Night mail

Based on the iconic movie ‘Night’ Mail from 1936, Revue Blanche and Katharina Smets travel together from Brussels to London and Glasgow. It’s a journey through time, music and literature. This story is combined with contemporary interviews as well as field recordings.
This new ‘Night Mail’ is about dreaming and travelling, about ongoing communication shifts between humans and continents, about changing borders and moving people.
All great train stations are monuments to the most personal rites of passage and huge historic events – every form of leave-taking and arrival. Mass human displacements, waves of immigration, war, forced migration. Exile, disposession, exodus, deportation. And, for the fortunate, the station was a place of extraordinary, impossible reunions. from Railtracks of John Berger and Anne Michaels
